About
The International Methodological and Business Workshop "From Industry to Science and Therapy with Chemical Analysis" is organised within an international NAWA project connecting laboratories and partner institutions from the Czech Republic, Portugal, Poland, Lithuania, and Croatia. The workshop will bring together researchers, clinicians, students, and industry experts to explore how modern chemical analysis supports biomedical research, therapy, product development, diagnostics, and innovation.
Local Organising Team
The local organising team is based at the Department of Medical Chemistry and Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Palacký University Olomouc, and coordinates the workshop programme, speakers, partners and participants.

Lenka Průšová
CB21 Pharma Ltd., Czechia
Lenka Průšová, MEng is an expert on the development of final cosmetic products, co-CEO of CB21 Pharma Ltd, focusing on evidence-based research in development in topical preparation. CB21 Pharma portfolio addresses unmet patients' needs in the area of women's health. She is the Safety Assessor of Final Cosmetics products available on the EU market. Her work includes formulation, validation, safety assessment and active ingredients, including natural substances. To date, she has formulated over 600 cosmetics products available in Czechia and internationally.
Patrick Trouillas
University of Limoges, InSiliBio Ltd, CATRIN, Czechia and France
Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy University of Limoges, a teacher-researcher at the IPPRITT laboratory and is also an affiliated researcher at the Czech research institute CATRIN. He is a co-founder of InSiliBio Ltd, a company that helps cosmetic, food, and pharmaceutical companies understand the properties of their active compounds and their fate in living organisms using computational techniques. His work focuses on molecular modelling of natural compounds, especially polyphenols, their electronic structure and biological activities, including antioxidant effects. Alongside his scientific career, he is also an author and illustrator of scientific comic books, including The Adventures of Herman and Begonia, which are regularly published by Récréasciences.


Tomáš Páleníček
National Institute of Mental Health, Psyon Ltd, Czechia
Tomáš Páleníček, MD, PhD, is a psychiatrist and researcher at the National Institute of Mental Health and Psyon Ltd. His work focuses on the neurobiology of psychedelics, cannabinoids and other psychoactive substances, including psilocybin. He studies their effects on brain activity, emotions and cognition using behavioral pharmacology, EEG and experimental models, with a focus on improvement of their therapeutic potential.
Pavel Hrouzek
Pavel Hrouzek, PhD is a head of the Laboratory of Algal Biotechnology, Institute of Microbiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on the discovery of novel high-value products and secondary metabolites from algae and cyanobacteria. Together with his research team, they develop various screening strategies to identify and isolate new compounds with anti-proliferative, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. His research interests further includes the biosynthesis of natural products as well as their roles in nature.


Petr Babula
Petr Babula, PharmDr, PhD, is a professor and Head of the Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University in Brno. His research focuses on cellular and molecular physiology, redox biology, oxidative stress and plant-based experimental models. He has studied natural substances and bioactive plant compounds, including Hypericum metabolites, chamomile responses and juglone. His work connects physiology, toxicology and pharmacognosy.

Petr Jirásek, DDS, PhD, is a dentist at JSmile stomatologie Ltd, researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Palacký University Olomouc. His clinical work focuses on periodontology, implant dentistry and prosthodontics. His research explores prevention and treatment of periodontal and peri-implant diseases, including the therapeutic potential of cannabidiol (CBD). His work connects clinical dentistry with natural compounds and translational research..

Pavel Beneš, DMD, is a dentist, researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Palacký University Olomouc. His clinical and research interests include dentistry, maxillofacial surgery, inflammatory markers and innovative approaches in dental care. He is particularly interested in the use of artificial intelligence in medicine and dentistry, including its potential for diagnostics, treatment planning and clinical decision-making. He is co-founder of a dental centre in Olomouc with its own research and development department. He also works at University Hospital Olomouc and F. D. Roosevelt University Hospital in Banská Bystrica.
Barbora Papoušková
Palacký University Olomouc, Czechia
Barbora Papoušková, PhD, is a researcher at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Palacký University Olomouc. Her work focuses on advanced mass spectrometric methods, including LC-MS, HRMS, metabolomics and ambient MS. She studies biologically relevant molecules and biotransformation products, including natural substances and cannabinoids. She also develops rDUVLAESCI for spatially resolved analysis of biological samples.


Jiří Pospíšil
Palacký University Olomouc, Czechia
Jiří Pospíšil, PhD, is an organic chemist whose work connects organic synthesis, natural product chemistry and chemical biology. His research focuses on biologically active natural compounds, plant hormones and molecular probes used to study biological targets and mechanisms of action. He has gained international research experience in Belgium, Germany and France and explores how nature-inspired chemistry can reveal new biological principles.
Valentýna Provazník
Valentýna Provazník, PhD, is a professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, Brno University of Technology. Her work focuses on biomedical engineering, medical data science, bioinformatics and AI-driven biological signal processing. She has extensive experience in research management, international collaboration and development of technologies supporting modern biomedical research.


Petr Tarkowski
Palacký University Olomouc, CATRIN, Czechia
Petr Tarkowski, PhD majored in Analytical Chemistry and Botany at Palacký University Olomouc. His research is devoted to studying natural substances isolated from plants and bacteria, the development of analytical methods to study phytohormones, and the quality assessment of medicinal plants. Recently, he has been studying cannabis and its products. He is a member of several national and international expert societies, executive boards, and an author or co-author of more than 100 scientific papers.
Peter Barath
Metrohm Czech Republic Ltd.
Peter Barath, PhD is CEO of Metrohm Czech Republic and a board member of the Czech Chemical Society. His expertise covers electrochemistry, team management, marketing and scientific networking. Metrohm develops precision instruments for chemical analysis, including titration, ion chromatography, spectroscopy, electrochemical measurements and process analytics. His contribution connects analytical instrumentation with research, industry and quality control. He is a part of a board of Czech Chemical Society.


Tomáš Korba
SCIEX Channel Partner AMEDIS Ltd, Czechia
Tomas Korba, MEng graduated in Analytical Chemistry at University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague in 1989. In 1992, he left science to work as service and application specialist for Varian GC, GC/MS, and later LC/MS/MS instruments. He moved to SCIEX in 2005 with responsibility for sales and support in Czechia and Slovakia. Since the reorganization in 2015 he supports customers from SCIEX Channel Partner AMEDIS.
